Carter, Terry & Company is a full-service investment brokerage, investment banking, asset management, and banking services firm. Founded in 1985 and headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, the firm has had a consistent pattern of dynamic growth through the leadership of Timothy J. Terry, President and CEO, and Belfield H. Carter, Jr., Chairman.
Since its inception, Carter, Terry & Company has grown to become one of the largest independent firms in Atlanta to serve clients throughout the country. The firm is a member of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, the Securities Industry Association, and the Securities Investor Protection Corporation.
In 2003, Carter, Terry & Company, Inc. formed a strategic alliance with RBC Dain Rauscher, an affiliate of The Royal Bank of Canada (ranked one of the safest banks in the world), and Intl FCStone. RBC Dain is a member of the New York Stock Exchange and other major securities exchanges.
Executive Team
Our executive team consists of Belfield H. Carter, Jr., Timothy J. Terry and Kristin Montet. Through their leadership, and despite the economic downturn of the past decade, Carter, Terry & Company has experienced consistent growth. The firm’s number of brokers has continued to increase in order to meet client demand, and it has doubled its assets under management. In 2015, the Atlanta Business Chronicle named Carter, Terry & Company one of the top brokerage firms in Atlanta.
Belfield Carter, Jr.
Belfield H. Carter, Jr. is Chairman of the Board with Carter, Terry & Company. Prior to joining Carter, Terry & Co. as partner in 1990, Belfield was a Limited Partner at Bear Stearns. Mr. Carter is a graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology and holds FINRA Registrations for Series 1, 24, 63 and 65.
Timothy J. Terry
Tim Terry became the President and CEO of Carter, Terry & Company in August of 2003. From 1998 to 2003, he was the Vice President of Sales with management responsibility in the Equity and Fixed Income Divisions for Carter, Terry & Co. He has over 36 years of experience in the securities business, beginning with Dean Witter Reynolds. He holds FINRA Registrations for Series 3, 7, 15, 24 and 63.
Kristin W. Montet
Kristin Montet is the Chief Financial Officer and a partner of Carter, Terry & Company and was one of the original founders of the firm in 1988. Her experience includes commercial banking as well as investment brokerage experience. Kristin is a graduate of Ithaca College in New York and holds FINRA Registrations for Series 7, 4, 24, 27 and MSRB Series 53.
